Does Batista want to retire?

Original report:
Batista was talking about taking some time off recently, in part because he was frustrated with the push he was getting. He seems to believe that he’s a notch below the top tier performers and he believes he should be pushed like a true main eventer. There is some suspicion that Batista’s win over John Cena at SummerSlam was an attempt to placate him.
Powell’s POV: There are still rumblings that Batista isn’t happy with his push and could still take time off. In other words, if having him go over on Cena was intended to pacify him, it didn’t last long. Although Batista has spoken in recent months about retiring in a year or two, the feeling is that he’s enough of a free spender that he might choose to stick around longer to maintain his current lifestyle.

Follow-up report:
The feeling of multiple sources is that Vince McMahon will go out of his way to keep Batista in the fold. Batista has mentioned the idea of retiring in a year or two. Current and former colleagues believe he means what he’s saying and isn’t just posturing for a better deal. However, they also feel that Vince will make enough contractual concessions to make Batista happy and active in the ring.
Powell’s POV: I’d heard from people that Batista has a reputation as a free spender and that might be one reason he’d consider staying. I’ve been told by others since then that he’s managed his money well. Essentially, the feeling is "he’s spent a lot of money, but he’s made a lot more." Good for him if that’s the case.
Batista does big business for WWE overseas. I’ve also been told that he’s the most popular wrestler on the international tours and WWE is well aware of this, which explains why Vince would go out of his way to keep him in the ring.
